Buccaneers Team Store

Sports + Retail

Team owners had a vision of supplying fans with the largest selection of official merchandise and increasing their opportunity for retail revenue. Nearly 10,000 square feet of underused space at Raymond James Stadium was converted into the Buccaneerโ€™s first brick-and-mortar store. The spaceโ€™s 45-foot-high ceilings presented many challenges with addressing lighting, signage, and security. To solve these issues, a 24-foot entrance portal and ceiling trellis was designed, providing the infrastructure needed to support these systems. New glazing on the second level gives fans in the main concourse tempting views of the new retail space. This increased customer awareness and retail sales, while also allowing natural light into the dark concourse.

On the store interior, design elements such as cedar wall paneling with a burned Buccaneers flag, and red stretched fabric sails, play into the teamโ€™s pirate persona in a refined way. A prominent program requirement included creating a โ€œwomenโ€™s boutiqueโ€ that recognized their female patrons. By mixing up the finishes and fixtures in this area, introducing custom light feature, and a wall mural celebrating female fans, a destination was created for an unreached market.
